DIY depth-stop
To make drill holes of equal depth, cut a short piece of dowel. Drill a hole through the center of the dowel to slot it over the bit. Adjust it to leave only enough bit equal to the depth of the holes you want to drill. The dowel will act as a stop as you bore each hole to the desired depth.—DIY Depth-Stop Drilling Guide
